1. COURSE OUTLINE:

A) Rationale:

This course extends students' experience with functions. Students will investigate the properties of polynomial, rational, logarithmic, exponential, and trigonometry functions; develop techniques for combining functions; broaden their understanding of rates of change; and develop facility in applying these concepts and skills. Students will also refine their use of the mathematical processes necessary for success in senior mathematics.

B) Course Units:

D) Course Policies:

    • Attendance and Participation:

Students are expected to come to class on time, be prepared, and actively participate in pair, group, and class work. and stay on-task. No electronic devices are allowed to use in the classroom during the class hours, except during break time from 7:30 - 7:45 pm.
No visitors are allowed in school. If you are late or have to leave school early, a sign-in or sign- out slip must be obtained from the office.
    • Homework Policy:

Students are expected to complete all assigned work, on a nightly basis. Students can be expect to spend appropriately 1-2 hours per evening on mathematics homework and/or assignments.
    • Missed Class Policy:

It is the students' sole responsibility to make up any missed lessons or assignments. Absenteeism and tardiness are not readily tolerated and can result in poor performance and low achievement.
    • Missed Quiz/ Test Policy:

Students may be given an opportunity to write a make-up quiz or test on a date specified by the teacher, only if an acceptable notes has been received detailing the reason for absence.
There will be NO retakes for poor quiz/test results or for students who missed the quiz/ test due to suspension or any other inexcusable absence (skipping class, vacation, etc.)
    • Late Assignment Policy:

Assignments must be submitted in a timely manner. A 10% deduction will be imposed on assignment submitted beyond the due date.
Students will be made aware of key dates for completing assignments and should plan his/ her time accordingly.
